Our first stop will be either at the Isthmus or Kiato (depending on the pre-arranged choice), where we will enjoy a coffee before beginning our ascent towards the mountainous region of Corinthia.
2nd Stop: Lake Stymphalia
Our next stop is the beautiful Lake Stymphalia, located at an altitude of 600 meters, nestled between Mount Kyllini and Mount Oligyrtos. The lake is historically linked to the sixth labor of Hercules, in which he faced the Stymphalian Birds.
3rd Stop: Monastery of Agios Georgios Feneos
Leaving Lake Stymphalia, we will head towards Karteri Feneou, where we will visit the Monastery of Agios Georgios. The monastery houses the holy relics of Saint George, Saint Panteleimon, and Saint Blaise. It played a significant role in the Greek War of Independence in 1821 and also served as a secret school during Ottoman rule. The monks here prepare traditional rose spoon sweet, which we will have the opportunity to taste.
4th Stop: Lake Doxa
After completing our visit to the monastery, we will head towards Lake Doxa, a stunning artificial lake surrounded by dense forests and majestic mountains, creating a breathtaking landscape. At Lake Doxa, we will take a leisurely walk around the small peninsula, where the charming chapel of Agios Fanourios is located. Following the walk, we will have free time to relax and soak in the tranquility and natural beauty of the area.
5th Stop: Goura
Our final stop is the village of Goura, situated at an altitude of 945 meters on the slopes of Mount Ziria, overlooking the Feneos plateau. Here, we will enjoy our meal in the scenic village square, breathing in the fresh mountain air and admiring the imposing church of the Archangels, built in 1877.
After resting and savoring our meal, we will begin our journey back, carrying with us wonderful impressions and memories from this beautiful excursion.
